Rebecca Morarty
Bachelor of Podiatry (Hons)
Rebecca Morarty completed her research into “The effect of foot orthoses on ground reaction forces during running” in 1997.
Rebecca has a specialist interest in lower limb biomechanics, including footwear choices and orthotic therapy. Her interests also include Aussie Rules Football, soccer, basketball, track and field, recreational running and all fitness activities.
Bec has previously competed in netball at a state level, and basketball at both a state and national level. She has extensive experience working with elite level basketball, netball, soccer and football clubs, as well as elite track and field athletes.
Whilst bec continues to own and run the Podiatry department at our Geelong clinic, she is currently only consulting from the Waurn Ponds location.
Fiona Johnson
Bachelor of Podiatry
Fiona Johnson is a Podiatrist who started with the Corio Bay Health Group at the end of 2009. Fiona has been practising privately in the Geelong area for nearly 10 years.
Over that period she has been involved in many of the local sporting clubs. Fiona played for a few years with the Geelong Lady Cats Basketball Club before crossing over to netball. She became involved in the North Shore Netball club where she has played and been on the committee for the last six years. Fiona is also an active sailor competing in numerous series at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club.
Fiona's Podiatry interests are varied, with a her main focus being on providing a thorough assessment, treatment and management plan no matter what your needs, to provide the required outcome. From ingrown toenails, to stress fractures or general footwear advice she is happy to help.
Fiona works at our Geelong Clinic (CBSMC) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, and our Norlane clinic (Northern Physiotherapy Centre) on Thursdays.
Shane Davis
Bachelor of Podiatry
Corio Bay Health Group is pleased to introduce Shane Davis as a member of our Podiatry Team.
Shane comes with a broad background after completing his Bachelor of Podiatry (BPod) degree at La Trobe University in 2008, receiving the award for the highest grades in his final year clinical examinations. Shane also completed his final year placements in London, UK spending time with some of London’s finest Sports Podiatrists, Foot and Ankle Surgeons and footwear retailers.
Shane has a particular interest and passion in the fields of musculo-skeletal injuries, nail and skin pathologies, paediatrics and diabetes foot management after practicing in Melbourne over the past few years. He has extensive experience in biomechanics and footwear, working with elite, recreational and social athletes. He has been the Podiatrist for the Dandenong Stingrays TAC Cup football team over the past two years as well as other local running, triathlon and sporting groups.
Shane has an intricate understanding and knowledge of different types of shoes, including running, walking, sport specific, casual, work and professional footwear.
Shane has a background in tennis at a junior elite level as well as being a qualified tennis coach and enjoying many sports recreationally including running, football, golf, skiing and riding.
Shane is available at our Geelong Clinic (CBSMC) on Wednesday and Thursdays afternoon/evenings (12-8pm)
Laura Kambuts
Bachelor of Podiatry, Graduate Certificate in Health Science
Laura graduated from the University of South Australia in 2006 with a Bachelor of Podiatry (B.Pod). She also completed a postgraduate course and received a Graduate Certificate in Health Science (Grad. Cert. H.Sc) in 2011. Laura have completed some research looking at the connection of the cyclist to their bicycle (cleats and clips) and how this affects their efficiency on the bike.
Previously Laura has been an AIS-qualified Sports Trainer and worked with the MetroStars soccer team who play Superleague in Adelaide. Her special interests are sports (injuries and performance) and paediatrics. In 2011 she worked at the University of South Australia teaching biomechanics and orthotic manufacture to Podiatry students. Outside of work Laura enjoys cycling, running and netball, and has just moved to Geelong in 2012 to pursue further studies.
Laura is available at our Geelong Clinic (CBSMC) on Saturday mornings. She also works at the Waurn Ponds Clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Andrea Strawhorn
Bachelor of Podiatry (Hons)
Andrea has been working at Corio Bay for three years, after working in a Podiatry based, athletic footwear store in Melbourne. Andrea has a strong background in both sporting and hiking footwear as well as work and casual footwear.
Having undertaken an honours research study investigating the association between ankle joint function and lower limb injuries in athletes, she has a particular professional interest in lower limb musculoskeletal injuries, gait assessment, orthoses prescription and footwear advice.
Andrea offers a range of podiatry services to the Geelong community, including general foot and nail care, veteran affairs, EPC and diabetic foot care, as well as biomechanical assessment.
Please note that Andrea is currently on maternity leave.
