How can Acupuncture help you?
Zhen's specialities are pain management, anxiety and women's health.
Acupuncture has been found to be effective in relieving pain, and in particular the following types of pain;
- Acute Pain: Soft tissue injury, Muscle spasms, sprains, nerve entrapments, dental pain, post-operative pain.
- Intermittent or chronic pain: tension headache, migraine, neck pain, myofascial pain, fibromyalgia, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injury, tennis elbow, lower back pain, sciatica, heel pain, achilles pain, plantar fasciitis, post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN).
Acupuncture also reduces visceral dysfuntions, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Epigastric pain, diarrhea, constipation etc.
Many women-specific conditions respond well to acupuncture, such as Dysmenorrhae, Pre-menstrual tension (PMT), Peri-menopuasal syndromes and nausea / vomiting / lower back pain associated with pregnancy.
There are some conditions which are better managed with acupuncture, and some are managed with Chinese herbs, while others can have enhanced effects if both acupuncture and herbs are used together.
If your condition is not in the abovementioned list, or you would like to know more about acupuncture or Chinese medicine please phone Zhen at the clinic and she will be happy to answer any of your questions.
More about Dr. Zhen Zheng
Dr Zheng's PhD thesis was about pain in older people. Since then, she has developed a special interest in pain management.
Dr Zhen: "Pain is a common yet complex symptom, and can affect one's life profoundly. Pain sufferers often feel irritable, have low energy and insomnia, and can suffer from functional impairment. I believe pain and the sufferer should be understood and managed as a whole, and a combination of various therapies often achieves better therapeutic results than one particular therapy does."
Zhen is also a lecturer and researcher at RMIT University (Melbourne). She is actively involved in the Chinese medicine professional bodies.
If you would like to know more about the theories, western medicine explanations, evidence, or current research development about acupunture and Chinese herbal medicine, Zhen is available to give presentations about these topics (please contact the clinic to speak to Zhen).
